Easter Recap

I know that I am posting out of order but yesterday's story was too cute not to share!

Easter was so much fun this year. Julian still doesn't get it but he was able to do more things like hunt eggs.......as well as dye them!

Here he is helping Daddy with the eggs.

The finished product.

Come Easter morning the bunny had brought him quite a basket.

Of all the items in there, his favorite by far was the semi truck. We are VERY into trucks these days.

Here he is all dolled up for Easter dinner at the Barzilla's house. He did some swimming, got another basket and played with friends.

Channel Your Inner Lassie....

So Julian still sleeps in a crib. He hasn't made any efforts in trying to learn how to climb out of it and we can see his every move on the video monitor. Not to mention the fact that we are perfectly okay with this arrangement. At least for the next six months or so......

Each morning when he wakes he is perfectly content to sit there and play/talk to himself until we come to get him. This period of Julian's personal time lasts anywhere from a 2 to 10 minutes or so. Some days he is more eager for us to go get him and this can happen for a variety of reasons. The most common being the mornings when he has woken up and then gone #2. He has NO want to stay in that soiled diaper......same as any other person who might find themselves in the same situation.

Well this morning was one of those mornings. He woke, did his "business" and started to call. Only this morning his call was different. I can only assume that Lance (our Miniature Pinscher) heard him wake and went to the gate at Julian's door to check on him. Soon enough we hear Julian on the monitor so I turn the video portion on. Julian is standing at the corner closest to the door, staring in that direction and saying "Yance (his version of Lance), Yance" then grabbing himself and saying "Poo Poo". Then it would all start over again...... "Yance, Yance, Yance"......."Poo Poo". This went on for the few minutes it took us to stop laughing and then get up and over to his room.

I am not sure what Julian was expecting. Did he expect Lance to come change his diaper? Did he expect him to channel his inner Lassie and come alert us just as if Timmy were in the well? Either way.....it was for sure one of the cutest things Julian has done to date. This is one for the record books (or baby book if you will).

I had to make some time to snap a couple of pictures of these two tonight. Especially since lately Julian has really been into Lance.....and Lance into Julian.

I just love that my boys love each other.

Lance, going in for the lick.

Julian bending down because it tickles him.

Julian has figured out how to make the licks stop.....well...almost.

Julian on the hunt.......

Today was Julian's last hurrah with the toddler room. Even though he is officially in the Early Preschool room at school he joined his old class for their Easter egg hunt. They were so cute out there! The yard was covered in eggs and the kiddo's had such a great time snatching them up. Julian made out like a bandit with way more candy than he will ever be allowed to have in one day/week/month. Daddy may have to help out in that department.

This weekend will be his second Easter but the first one where he kind of knows what is going on. The next few years worth of holidays are going to be great! I love the wonder and awe in his eyes. I love watching him experience things for the first or second time......because he enjoys each time as if it was his first. I am looking forward a family filled long weekend. Happy Easter!!

The play yard.....ready for the kiddo's

Julian going for his first egg!

Racking them up!

Speaking of hunting......here is Julian on the hunt once again. Here he is hugging his "girlfriend" Hannah. They moved up to the early preschool room together this past week.

It is probably a good thing cause he LOVES her. Obviously!!!!

Not one picture......

Was taken over the weekend of Julian. Not one!! I was busy shooting away....but it was for others. My Muse had to wait. I did manage to get some great shots of my sweet man on the either side of Saturday and Sunday.

Friday night we went to the park. But after getting his fill of the slides and the swings Julian decided to take a detour. He worked his way to the basketball courts where he watched the big boys play. He was in awe. I loved watching him watch them. He wanted to be one of them. It was a painful reminder that I shouldn't blink. He will be one of those big boys before I know it.

At one point they brought him the ball. He was over the moon.

(insert a too short weekend with not enough lens to Julian time here)

Monday night we went to Old town Spring and ate at Wunschie Brothers. At one point a train came by and Julian LOVED watching it. Alternating between "Train" and "Choo-Choo" as it passed. When it was done he kept asking for "More" as this picture shows.

If only Mommy had that kind of power.

Since the train wasn't an option he moved to the front window where he could watch all of the cars passing by. He is such a boy.

Last but not least. I took this one tonight. I call it his Michael Jordan face. He uses it when he is deep in thought.

He is so much fun these days. I am so blessed.

These are the days

Spring around these parts means longer days and warmer weather. Around our house that means a slight shift in our evening routine. These days it is home, dinner, outside walk/park/water the grass time, bath then bed. As a result, Julian has become quite the fan of our outdoor outings. He loves the running, jumping, climbing and riding that it all entails.

Here is Momma's cheesy boy.....loving life at the Jungle gym.

His climbing skills are actually getting quite good. He has mastered the chain net and the rock wall.

Julian even helps with getting stuff done around the house.

But he always has time to not look at the camera when Mommy is trying to set up a sweet Daddy & Me shot. :)

He is such a boy with his love of everything with wheels.

I believe that our baby has left us, along with the winter..........but now spring is here with it's promise of growth and all things new. These are the days I will cherish one day when I look back at the time when my little man transformed from baby to boy.

A visit with the Easter Bunny......sort of....

Saturday afternoon the Easter Bunny made a stop at the clubhouse in the neighborhood. I thought it would be nice to take Julian up there so that I could get this year's bunny picture. Julian.....had other ideas....

He was not a big fan of the Easter Bunny....this was as close as he would get.

Someday we will laugh looking back at that picture.

The Chik Fil'A cow however was a totally different story. He loved chasing him around yelling "Moo" and was all about giving him high fives.

After his visit we spent some time playing on the playground.

And later we went by the Mall where he checked out the latest riding lawn mower.

Good times.

Fantastic Friday

It has been warm. Not just spring warm but unseasonably warm. Like 90 with 80% humidity. On Friday evening we were enjoying some outside time and watering the grass at the same time. Julian showed an interest in running through the sprinkler and with it being Hades hot, how could we not oblige??

He had a BLAST!! Walking up to the water, running through, waving at all the cars passing by. I see a lot more sprinkler runs in our future....especially if this is any indication of how the summer is going to be.

Good thing we have a water baby!!

Mommy's Zombie contemplating his first run.

Waving at the neighbors as they pass.

If you could hear this photo it would say "Weeeeeeeee!"

"Hey, where did my water go??"

Out for a post sprinkler wagon ride.

Have a great week!

Spring has sprung!

And by "spring" to any of you that have been in Houston this time of year you know that means mid to high 80's with the occasional break down to the 70's. The Bluebonnets are in full bloom and we are spending most of our evenings outside playing.

We took Julian to the park to take his mandatory (for any child living in Texas) Bluebonnet field pictures. This year sure was a challenge compared to last year! He didn't want to sit still (A nearly two year old who won't sit still?? You don't say!?!?!?!) and wanted to run through them instead. He thought him popping up while I kept putting him back down was the funnest game ever.

Someday we will look back and these and smile at the goofy, giggly ball of love that is my toddler.

Julian checking out the flowers (couldn't get him to look at the camera....at all).

This was his favorite part......popping up when I was trying to keep him down.

Mommy finally gave in and let him run through the flowers.

I wouldn't change it for the world. I love my little Honey Bunny!!!
