Eyes Wide Open

Julian has been spending more time with his eyes open these days. He is getting better at focusing in on people and objects. Just another sign that our little man is growing.....and growing fast!

He still isn't a fan of bath time, but that may change once we can actually place him in the water (when his umbilical cord falls off) instead of giving a sponge bath.

Here is a picture from last night's bath time:

Gotta love watching him watch you!

Until next time!

1:15 AM

Well, here we are..............1:15 in the morning. And we just put him down in his bassinet. Time to catch a few hours of sleep before his next feeding. But here I am awake. I would rather watch him sleep, grow, breathe, or just lay there and dream. Everything he does is just beautiful. It amazes me to watch him grow each and every day. I feel so blessed.

I hope you enjoy today's pics:

I thought this one was funny.....maybe he just realized how truly crazy his parents are:

2 week check-up

Julian had his two week check-up this morning. All looks good! He is 8lbs 9oz (back over birth weight) and 21 inches long. Dr. says he looks great. Next appointment will be at two months for his first round of shots.

Here are a few pictures from the last few days. Enjoy!!

Fun with a sleeping Julian

So yesterday Julian was sleeping peacefully on my bed.

What a better time to play with him and have a little fun than while he is passed out cold right?!?! Nana happened to be there with her famous dollar store magnification glasses (a cute fifties inspired horned rimmed pair). He looked like he was thinking so hard......with his hand on his chin and all. So we wanted to make him appear more studious.

Do you think it worked??

FYI......no Julian's were hurt in the making of this picture. He never even woke up. Sleepy little boy!!

Three Generations

Okay....so I don't normally post twice in one day (especially back to back) but this is AMAZING!

Mom just returned from a short trip back to her house (she will be helping us out through the rest of this week) with my baby album. I can not believe how much Julian looks like Me/Mom. What do you think?

The left is my Mom (about 60 years ago) the right is me (about 30 years ago).

Julian.

All I can say is WOW!! We are going to look at Adrian's baby pictures.

Father's Day

Today is Adrian's first Father's Day.......thanks to Julian!! So far the day has been uneventful but good. Let Daddy sleep in (most likely the greatest gift he received) and gave him two T-Shirts. Then made him Chocolate Chip Pancakes for breakfast.

Julian and I are so blessed to have Adrian. We are thankful for him every day.

One Week!

YAY!! Julian is one week old today.

Still as sweet as ever. I can't believe how fast this week has gone by. I swear I just gave birth to him five minutes ago!! I think I just found out I was pregnant 3 months ago. They say that time will fly by from now on.

Mommy is in the hospital for a skin infection so Julian came to visit and hang out. Here are a few pictures and a super cute video from his visit.
LOVE HIM!!!

Shogun's Revenge

First......let me start out by giving you the definition of Shogun:

sho·gun (shō'gən) n. The hereditary commander of the Japanese army who until 1867 exercised absolute rule under the nominal leadership of the emperor.

Well apparently his rule is back on and he sure knows how to show his distaste for things.
Last night we decided to give Julian his first bath at home. As you can imagine......he was not pleased. After cleaning him from top to bottom we swaddled him in a hooded towel and I proceeded to cling him to me so to use my body heat to warm him up (as recommended by the hospital). Well......as he had no diaper on and was clearly displeased.....he proceeded to take a nice juicy poop.....all over his towel and more importantly....all over me!!

At this point I call to Adrian so that he can re-bathe his lower half. After that is done and he is in a diaper (you learn from every mistake right?!?!) Adrian proceeds to snuggle him in a new hooded towel on his chest. Then Adrian pulls Julian away from him and says "See, that wasn't so bad". Julian (still displeased) proceeds to open his eyes, rear his hand back and slap Adrian in the face. Of course.....it may just have been the newborn startle reflex. But something tells me that Shogun is back.....and he means business!!

Here are a few pictures from the last couple of days. Enjoy!!

Julian Comes Home

Julian made his way home from the hospital yesterday (Saturday, June 13, 2009) which ironically was his original due date.

First night home went well. We are still working on the breastfeeding thing and have called in some reinforcements to help us figure it out.

He is a bit jaundiced so we will be going to the pediatrician tomorrow to make sure that he is making good progress.

Here are a couple of pictures until our next post.

A family that is bonded or "banded" together. LOL.

Relaxing at home on the couch.

Julian has arrived!!

Well.....it is official!! We are a family!!

Julian Ignacio Aldana made his way into this world at 10:06PM on June 1o, 2009 via C-Section. He weighed in at 8lb 4oz and measured 201/4 inches long!! He is more than we could have ever asked for.

With family and friends spread out among numerous cities, states, countries and continents we wanted to provide a space where we could share the joy of raising our little miracle. We hope that you will join us on this journey.

Thanks to those who sent their prayers and blessings this way. We love you all.
